Crafts Exhibition, from 25 April to 1 May at the Fortezza da Basso

MIDA, the International Crafts Fair, promoted and organized by Firenze Fiera in collaboration with the main institutions and trade associations, will take place from 25 April to 1 May at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence. It will be the 88th edition which reconfirms the primacy of the first ‘artisan’ fair in Italy.

A consolidated event in the name of creativity, beauty, innovation and sustainability, explained the President of the Region who participated in the presentation of the initiative, which marks the exhibition, commercial and valorization vocation of craftsmanship, including artistic, in the city of Florence, and in our region. It is a sort of popular festival in which for 88 editions a special atmosphere has been experienced which has contributed to defining the international vocation of Florence.

The president underlined the numbers of the event: 530 exhibitors, a figure growing by 18 percent compared to 2023. An exhibition that is not only quality, but also quantity, added the president, hoping for an increase in stands both nationally and international. In fact, the number of participating countries is increasing (32 compared to 28 in 2023), a sign of the cosmopolitanism that Florence represents.

Alongside the crafts exhibition, the president underlined the valorization of Firenze Fiera which, having overcome the Covid years, presents itself as a public trade fair body managing a space that will be increasingly central to Florence; just think of the transformation that the city is experiencing in terms of public transport, starting from the completion of the high speed with the Circondaria – Belfiore station, the only one that will connect the trade fair aspect to transport.

MIDA 2024, (fair certified ISO 20121 as a sustainable event) represents an unmissable event for those who wish to spend a whole day inside a historic fortress, in the center of Florence, in ancient pavilions and rooms and in open-air squares among the many proposals from the various product sectors (clothing and accessories, furnishing accessories, design and innovation, goldsmithing, jewelery and costume jewellery, beauty and well-being, international craftsmanship, etc.) and the infinite temptations of Italian and multi-ethnic food and wine.

There are 530 exhibitors at this edition, an increase of 18% compared to 2023, on a total surface area of ​​34 thousand square metres, confirming the attractive power of MIDA for the launch of contemporary craftsmanship. Once again, they – artisan businesses, designers, young makers, start-ups – will be the true protagonists who will take back the scene in the Fortezza, showing off all the charm of tradition and the attractive force of new sustainable and hyper-technological solutions, for the joy of an audience of enthusiasts and qualified operators (65,000 visitors to the last edition).

Among the 32 participating foreign countries, Belgium, France, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia, Ecuador, China, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Jordan, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, Syria, Singapore, United States, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine and Vietnam.
